Community Engagement Intern
First Descents (FD) is a nonprofit that provides life-changing outdoor adventures for young adults (ages 18-39) impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions. The Community Engagement Intern is primarily responsible for assisting the Program Manager – Community Engagement with coordination and promotion for Community Adventures (CA). The Community Engagement Intern will report to the Program Manager – Community Engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Create succinct CA webpages to effectively communicate CA program information
- Build custom geo targeted email marketing campaigns to promote CAs
- Maintain data integrity by tracking all CA program information in the organization’s CRM system (Salesforce)
- Coordinate stewardship mailings for Community Adventure leaders nationwide and assist with other Programs Team related mailings as needed
- Monitor and respond to CA outreach (e.g. emails) as assigned
- Support Core Program volunteer communications (e.g. emails), as assigned
- Other projects and duties, as assigned

- Passion for adventure, community connection, and relationship building
- Strong task and time management skills, including disciplined use of project management tools and CRM systems or a desire to learn
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated and eager to jump into projects (put another way, you’re a problem solver!)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A commitment to personal and professional development, including openness to taking direction and receiving feedback

We are extremely busy at certain times of the year, so your willingness to get the job done and take on additional responsibilities as needed is appreciated. At the same time, we support one another and encourage self-care.
Inside Details:
This is a hybrid position with a one day a week in-office expectation in Denver; because of this we are only accepting applicants from Colorado. This is an hourly intern position. The compensation for this position is $18.00 per hour with an expected workload of 15-20 hours per week. The expected time period for this role is a minimum of four months and a maximum of six months but this is negotiable for the right candidate.
